In this blog, I want to lay a solid foundation addressing the morality of what we usually say about being poor. We all are living in a world of Proverty, but the problem is to know if Proverty is a blessing or a choice. However, let’s first understand three concepts that will guide us: Proverty, Blessing and Choice.
Poverty is any deficiency of elements or resources that are needed or desired. As far as I’m concerned, I usually say that Poverty is a lack of creativity.
Blessing is some kind of divine or supernatural and, or reward.
Blessing is an option; a decision; an opportunity to choose or select something. Now, that we’ve just defined our three concepts, let’s find out the exact answer to the question: ” Is Poverty a blessing or a choice” It’s my hope and prayer that this article will spart a movement that will end the gruesome of statistics of Proverty and lack in your life. I strongly recommend that you read this article through carefully if you want to find out two principles that hold you back from achieving your success goals.

A friend of mine once invited me for a dinner party. He invited me because he wanted to get my opinion regarding what he was actually facing in life. Then he let me know something very shocking. I tried to ask him what he truly wanted, he said he wanted to build a solid business, but he didn’t have enough money to achieve his goal. As soon as I knew what he wanted and why he didn’t achieve it the way he wanted, I went on asking him how much money he needed so that he could launch his business. He proudly replied: Jay, I already have $500, but I still need to make $5.000 so that I can build my business well. I bowed my head and said he was right, but I couldn’t stop asking him since I knew that he was driven by greed. I tried to know why he needed more money while he had already got $500 which he could use first to build a small business before trying to think about building a solid (big) business. He said he had no idea what to do with $500 since he needed more money.
Do You see how shocking this story is!! We need more in life, but we seem to have forgotten that God only promised to meet our needs, not to satiate our greed. Greed makes us want more than we can handle, it makes us heap up things until we have to acquire more living space just to keep it all. My friend didn’t achieve his goal because he wanted more than what he already had. That’s greed.
Greed is pervasive within the western culture ( As well as most of the leadership of the developing world, especially in Africa where almost 75% of people are poor). The sad reality is that greed is vigorously promoted from the pulpit and by those who are supposed to be the pillar of Truth and justice in society. There are even families where everyone is not satisfied with the little they have. All they want is to get more everyday. This greed concept is imprinted everywhere in society, therefore ” The poor get poorer and the rich get richer” .
I’m sure that you now understand the first reason most of us are still poor. It’s simply because we want more “Greed” which is a selfish or excessive desire for more than is needed or deserved, especially of money, wealth, food or other possessions. Principal one : Greed
The second principal is “management” Lots of people need more than what they already have, they no longer focus on managing the little they have but all they want is to acquire more. The principal of Management tells us to be productive. We all want to get more money, beautiful houses etc, while we’re not productive. Go back to the story of my friend who wanted more money to build a solid business while he already had $500 at his disposal. He did nothing with this amount of money, but wait until he could make $5.000.
Poverty is the absence of self production, poor people are non productive ones. Poverty appears when you stop producing the little you have now.
You get what you can manage
What did you do with the amount of money you recently got ? ( No matter how small capital it was)
Lots of people usually want to own beautiful houses, but the houses they are renting, they keep them dirty. Let’s now answer our question: “Is Poverty a blessing or a choice”? Only you can tell! But I believe that Poverty is simply a choice.
We are poor not because we were blessed to be so but because we chose to be so. The world is filled with people with great ideas but only a few people with great fortunes from those ideas. If you want to be among the people who have great ideas that produce great fortunes, you need to learn to get rid of greed concept and imprint the principal of Management in everything you can do.
